I enjoyed having five days off from work. We had some very nice days compared to the days leading up to my days off with all the rain. We needed it though.
I have been trying my hand at freemotion machine quilting. Last month I took a class at my favorite quilt shop Tomorrow's Quilts. I had a lot of fun and learned some good ideas for freemotion quilting. I did seem to have some trouble getting my stitches to look good. I tried using different thread and needles. I think I may have it right now. Here are just two of the many sandwich squares that I have been practicing on.
I made a small wallhanging for the class out of five inch squares that I had in my scrap box. The only thing I had time to do in the class to the wallhanging was to get it pinned.....I don't like that pinning part but I know it has to be done. After all those practice squares I finally felt a little confidence to work on the wallhanging. I did some stippling on it. Here are a few squares of it.
I also did some machine quilting on a table runner that I had done a few months ago called Taco Salad from Atkinson Designs book called "Let's Do Lunch". I love her patterns. Fun and easy to do. I have several table runners and placemats that I have been wanting to do some machine quilting on.
I aslo spent some time this weekend cutting out my hexie papers for my Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt. I know...I could buy these already cut but I have started doing them this way and I want to finish them like this. I haven't had time to post for my One Flower Wednesdays but I have several of them done since my last post. I will try to get them posted this Wednesday.

Your FMQ looks great. I need to find a class to take
I think your quilting looks super.
Great job on your fmq! I need to get in some more practice.
Your freemotion quilting is looking great - something I really need to spend time practising too. I just love the top hexagonal block - does it have a name? It is absolutely gorgeous!!
